TAB Meeting Agenda 7/25/16

     1. Snacks were distributed. Yum!

     2. We discussed book choices for August reading, voted, and selected "The Wall" by William Sutcliffe.

     3. We talked about making some interesting additions to library fun!

     4. We brainstormed about ideas for a reading program for teens during the school year.

     5. We scheduled a library bake sale to raise funds for the Teen Advisory Board.

TAB Meeting Agenda 6/13/16


  

1. As usual, we distributed snacks and talked about any books  members are currently reading.


   2. Summer Teen Activities! We discussed ideas and suggestions for fun things for teens to participate in this summer.


    3. We looked at some very nice wooden boxes that will be decorated by some of the board members and sold to benefit the Person County Public Library. ( The said boxes are to be sold at the farmer's market.)

    4. We planned an event for next month to collect donations for Person County Animal Services.


    5. We discussed many exciting new ideas and possibilities for the library!

TAB Meeting Agenda 5/9/2016

  1. Snacks! Discussion about any books everyone is reading lately.
  2. Decide a new topic and books to start reading. Last time we did setting, and before then relationship.
    1. What topic would you like to do next?
    2. What books go within that topic?
      -Decided to go along with Character Development and just share the book that you have been reading.
  3.  At our last meeting we planned to research program ideas and share with the group to come up with ideas for teen programs to do during the summer.
    1. What did you come up with? 
    -Teen program ideas included:
    1. Music Appreciation Day (Bring your instrument and learn from a professional)
      1. Write a song to go along with a book you just read
      2. Book to movie showing on the Library's side yard (AT OUR NEXT TAB MEETING THINK OF A BOOK TO MOVIE SUGGESTION)
      3. TAB Membership Drive in August or September
      4. Zombie Make-up event in October possibly
      5. "Color Runs" (Powdered color running event). Host it for teens and kids.

-Teen Choice Read for June 2016 is "Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl" By Melissa Keil. (Check it out) 
-Our next TAB meeting will be on June 13 at 4:00 PM.

TAB Meeting Agenda 4/25/2016

1.      “The Place is the Thing…” How setting is used in a story quarterly book discussion. Recommended titles to read: “Paper Towns” By John Green, “Rain of the Ghosts” By Greg Weisman, and “Tell the Story to It’s End” By Simon Clark.
a.     What is the setting of the novel you read?
b.     How does the author paint a picture of the setting in your head?
c.      What did the author make you see, smell, or hear in the story using setting?
d.     How do the characters interact within the setting?
e.     Is setting dependent upon genre? If so, how?

2.     At our last meeting on 3/28/16 we planned to research program ideas and share with the group to come up with ideas for teen programs to do during the summer.
a.     We decided to postpone this discussion till our next meeting on May 9th at 4:00 PM.


3.     After two months of TAB voting we have selected three officers for the next year 2016-2017 effective now. Please welcome!

4.     Upcoming volunteer opportunity in the Library. We are having a “Let’s Read Around Town” Family Literacy Night with Partnership for Children on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Volunteers are needed to help set up and guide children and parents during the program. If you are interested please let Amanda know.
